In the last 24 hours, Nepal has reported 484 new COVID-19 cases<\/strong>, taking the nation’s caseload to 24,432<\/strong>. Currently, there are 7,613 active cases in the country.<\/p>\n Eight people have died due to coronavirus on Wednesday, the highest single-day death toll in the country so far. With this, Nepal\u2019s death toll has reached 91.<\/p>\n The fatalities include:<\/strong><\/p>\n Meanwhile, 64 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the country, taking the recovery cases to 16,728.<\/p>\n Because of rising coronavirus infections, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) has directed all 77 District Administration Offices (DAOs) to stop issuing \u2018vehicle pass\u2019 for inter-district travel until further notice.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Even the passes issued earlier will become invalid starting from August 14.<\/p>\n The move comes in the wake of a recent COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) meeting taking decisions to effectively control the inter-district movement of people to curb further spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n The Department of Information and Broadcasting has decided to postpone the issuance and renewal of the press representative certificate until further notice in view of COVID-19.<\/p>\n \u201cAs this activity needs physical presence of persons in office and not possible via electronic medium now, the service has been postponed,\u201d said the Department in a press release.<\/p>\n However, the working journalists can submit their complaints at the Press Registrar.<\/p>\n The emergency ward of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) has been sealed-off as the on-duty health workers tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n According to the hospital authorities, two doctors and six nurses posted at the emergency ward have contracted the infection.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Swab samples of other health workers of the hospital have been sent for the PCR test. The resumption of emergency services will depend on the test results of these medics.<\/p>\n\n
