July 19, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n Art company Yantrakala Studios, which operates from both Kathmandu and London, is producing an animated movie titled Majipa: Lakhay <\/em><\/strong>to commemorate the visit of the then Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana to Britain around 170 years back.<\/p>\n The movie\u2019s story, penned by veteran cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi, would focus on the Lakhay cult of the Kathmandu Valley<\/a>. According to Sanyukta Shrestha, the director of the film, her team would conduct an extensive research over the next couple of years to achieve a realistic portrayal of the socio-cultural situation of 19th<\/sup> century Kathmandu. Popular Nepali artists Manish Shrestha, Priyanka Karki, Sunita Juju and Madan Das Shrestha will provide the movie\u2019s voice over.<\/p>\n The movie\u2019s release is being planned for May 2020 to coincide with author Joshi\u2019s 101st<\/sup> birthday.
