Nepal Finance Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada has released the Human Development Report issued by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Kathmandu on December 10, 2019.<\/p>\n
According to the report, with 0.579 Human Development Index (HDI) value, Nepal secured 147th<\/sup> position out of 189 countries.<\/p>\n The report claimed that the per capita Gross National Income (GNI) of Nepal had proliferated by 130.5% over the past 28 years from 1990 to 2018.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Moreover, the HDI value had increased by 0.52% from 0.380 to 0.579 in the aforementioned period.<\/p>\n Other Demographics:<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the UNDP, now Nepal is in the category of medium HDI.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The growth in the per capita GNI, HDI and other demographics is mainly due to the positive initiations taken by the government in educational, health and employment sectors.<\/p>\n Even though Nepal has seen a drastic rise in GNI and HDI, the people with meagre income are facing scarcity for health, education and adequate living standards.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So, in order to ensure \u2018increase in income for increase in equality<\/strong>\u2019, the government should make necessary reforms at policy level to equal distribution of resources.<\/p>\n Related Stories:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n
