    Finally, the 13th<\/sup> South Asian Games (SAG) has begun amid huge fan base and sports lovers watching minute to minute.<\/p>\n

    The 13th<\/sup> SAG was inaugurated on December 01<\/a> and will continue until December 10, 2019. The event will see around 27 sports events to be played by around 662 athletes from different South Asian nations.<\/p>\n

    The first day of the 13th<\/sup> SAG is witnessing 12 sports events today, including Taekwondo, Karate, Men\u2019s football, badminton, volleyball, Kho Kho, Women\u2019s cricket, table tennis, tennis, gulf, triathlon and Wushu. While Badminton, women cricket and triathlon are held in Pokhara, the other events are held at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n

    Here are some highlights of the 13th<\/sup> SAG sports events:<\/h2>\n

    The Closing Day<\/h3>\n

    Finally, the 10-day-long 13th<\/sup> South Asian Games has arrived on its closing day i.e. on December 10, 2019.<\/p>\n

    The last day of this South Asian sports event is set to see 5 games in Dasharath stadium in Kathmandu, ahead of the closing ceremony at 5 pm.<\/p>\n

    Football, basketball, boxing, squash and judo are the games to be played.<\/p>\n

    Nepal and Bhutan are set to test their luck at the finals of the men\u2019s football, beginning from 3 pm.<\/p>\n

    Sri Lanka and India will face each other on basketball finals to be held in Tripureshwor from 1 pm. While the women\u2019s basketball will see India and Nepal on the ground for finals.<\/p>\n

    Meanwhile, boxing event from 1 pm will see contestants fighting for 8 gold medals.<\/p>\n

    The final Judo event has been scheduled to begin at 12.35 pm at the Army Physical Training and Sports Center, Lagankhel.<\/p>\n

    Meanwhile, Squash will see the finals battle between Pakistan and India in both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s categories.<\/p>\n

    Finally, PM Oli is set to address the closing ceremony of the glorious event via video conference, where he is expected to announce special motivational packages to athletes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    1) \u2018Silver\u2019 in Handball<\/h4>\n

    Nepal had to satisfy with the \u2018silver\u2019 in the women\u2019s Handball competition part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG. In the final match in Pokhara Stadium on December 09, 2019, the Himalayan nation lost to India by 21-36 points. While, Bangladesh finished third to win the bronze medal after defeating Pakistan 31-15.<\/p>\n

    India continued the same position as in the 12th<\/sup> SAG, but Nepal improved from the fourth position to now the second position this time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    2) Gold in Boxing<\/h4>\n

    Nepal\u2019s Minu Gurung got Nepal a \u2018gold\u2019 in the women\u2019s boxing match held part of the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) on December 09, 2019. She won over Indian opponent in the 45-kg weight category event. Now, Nepal\u2019s gold medal count reached 46.<\/p>\n

    Nepal bagged gold in Wrestling on December 07, 2019. Sangita Dhami got this for the nation in the wrestling event against Bangladesh 4-1 in the 55-kg event held part of 13th<\/sup> SAG.<\/p>\n

In a match on December 08, 2019, Nepali Men\u2019s football team registered a win over Bangladesh by 1-0 and secured its spot in finals. On the other side, Bhutan fought out Maldives to made it to the finals. Now, Nepal and Bhutan will play the finals on December 10, 2019 and the winner will bag the \u2018gold\u2019 medal. In the past, Nepal won gold in football in 1993 and 2016, respectively.<\/p>\n

    3)\u00a0 \u2018Hat-trick Golds\u2019 in Swimming<\/h4>\n

    Gaurika Singh has set a new record in swimming part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG currently being held in Nepal. She registered three hat-tricks and won three golds. After winning two golds in the previous matches, Singh added another to her list on December 08, 2019. Under the 400-m freestyle, she completed the target in 4:25:28 seconds. She surpassed her own national record in the 100-m and 200-m butterfly events to win gold medals. She completed the 100-min race in just 1.09.97 seconds beating her earlier record of 0.08.63 seconds.<\/p>\n

    Meanwhile, Duana Lama of Army and Shreebi Maharjan of Armed Police Force (APF) bagged silver and bronze, respectively. In the 200-meter freestyle, Singh completed in 2.09.19 seconds and bagged a gold, leaving second and third positions to Duana and Tisa Shakya of APF, respectively.<\/p>\n

    Day-6 (December 06, 2019): 19 Sports Events Today!<\/h3>\n

    The 13th<\/sup> SAG grand event in Nepal has successfully entered into its sixth day on December 06, 2019. The Day-6 of the 13th<\/sup> SAG will see 19 different events.<\/p>\n

    9 events are scheduled to be held in Pokhara, Kathmandu and Janakpur, with 5 of them being new ones and the rest in continuation to previous events.<\/p>\n

    The list of events include archery, athletics, shooting, basketball, badminton, cricket, beach volleyball, squash, fencing, football, gulf, handball, kabaddi, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, wrestling and Wushu.<\/p>\n

    Badminton, women\u2019s cricket, wrestling, beach volleyball, archery and handball are scheduled to take place in Pokhara, wrestling in Janakpur, and the rest in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n

    1) First \u2018Gold\u2019 In Athletes<\/h3>\n

    Nepal\u2019s Gopi Chandra Parki got the first gold for Nepal in the athlete’s category. Parki bagged the medal in men\u2019s 5000-meter running held at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on December 06, 2019.<\/p>\n

    Parki finished the race in 14 minutes 54.20 seconds. Meanwhile, Hari Kumar Rimal claimed bronze by finishing the distance in 14 minutes 57.05 seconds.<\/p>\n

    2) First Time in Table Tennis<\/h3>\n

    For the first time in the history of SAG, Nepal won some medals in the table tennis category part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG. The match held at TT hall in Lainchaur saw Nepal bagging a silver under Men\u2019s singles and a bronze in the women\u2019s singles.<\/p>\n

    Shrestha lost the game to Indian player Amal Raj Anthony in 4-0 set (11-4, 12-10, 11-8, 11-2), while Bajracharya lost to Indian player Harmit Deshai in set 4-0 (11-5, 11-4, 11-1 and 11-4).<\/p>\n

    3) Nepal Out of SAG Women Cricket<\/h3>\n

    Nepal had to face a disappointing exit from the SAG Women cricket defeat. Yes, the team lost to the Sri Lanka U-23 in a match held part of 13th<\/sup> SAG on December 06, 2019. The match played in Pokhara saw Sri Lanka winning over Nepal by 41 runs and thus, secured its spot in the finals. Nepali batsmen failed to finish the 119-run target and were all-out at 77 runs. Skipper Rubina Chhetri emerged as the top scorer from the team.<\/p>\n

    Now, Nepal will next play with Maldives on December 07, 2019 for the bronze medal, while Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play for gold on December 08, 2019.<\/p>\n

    Day-5\u00a0(December 05, 2019): 17 Events Today<\/h3>\n

    The fifth day of the 13th<\/sup> SAG on December 05, 2019 is going to see 17 sports events taking place in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Of these, five are going to be the new games and the rest will be the continuation on previous events.<\/p>\n

    As on December 04, 2019, India lead the medals table with 34 gold medals, with Nepal in the second position with 29 gold medals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Events to be played today include archery, athletics, basketball, badminton, cricket, football, gulf, handball, kabaddi, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, wrestling and Wushu.<\/p>\n

    Of them, badminton, women\u2019s cricket, women\u2019s football, wrestling volleyball, archery and handball will be held in Pokhara and the others in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n

    1) First \u2018Gold\u2019 in Swimming<\/h3>\n

    Nepal registered another gold in the ongoing 13th<\/sup> South Asian Games (SAG), 2019. Nepal\u2019s Gaurika Singh bagged the medal in 200 meters swimming in the competition at the Satdobato swimming pool, Lalitpur on December 05, 2019. She finished the target in 2 minutes 5 seconds and 6 microseconds.<\/p>\n

    While, swimmers from India and Bangladesh finished only in silver and bronze levels, respectively. Gaurika is the Olympian swimmer brought the first gold to the country under the individual category. Earlier, the country had won gold in swimming under the team category.<\/p>\n

    As the day ended, India continued at top of the medals table with 117 medals, followed by Nepal that received 96 medals including 36 golds.<\/p>\n

    Nepal\u2019s Sanju Chaudhary bagged a gold in the weightlifting 59-kg category as part of the ongoing 13th<\/sup> SAG match in Pokhara.<\/p>\n

Shrestha won over Indian player Akshaya Hoda by 29-27 points. With this, Nepal\u2019s gold medal count in Taekwondo reached 12.<\/p>\n

    Day-4 (December 04, 2019): 16 Games to Be Played<\/h3>\n

    Day-4 of the 13th<\/sup> SAG on December 04, 2019 will see around 16 different sports events in Kathmandu and Pokhara.<\/p>\n

    So far, Nepal has won 23 golds, followed by India (19).<\/p>\n

    Now, all participating teams are all set to test their luck in different games today, including athletics, badminton, cricket, cycling, football, gulf, karate, kho kho, table tennis, Taekwondo, tennis, kabaddi, handball, Wushu, triathlon and shooting.<\/p>\n

    While badminton, women cricket, triathlon and handball are scheduled to be held in Pokhara, the rest are expected to take place in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n

    1) Women\u2019s Cricket: Nepal Vs BNG<\/h3>\n

    Nepali cricket team had to face another loss in the ongoing 13th<\/sup> South Asian Games. In the match held on December 04,2019, Nepal lost to Bangladesh by 10 wickets. The match played in Pokhara began with Bangladesh offer the bat to Nepal after winning the toss. But Nepalis did not stand long and ended with just 50 run score for all-out in 19.2 overs. Bangladesh team finished the 51-run target in just 7.4 overs without the loss of even a single wicket.<\/p>\n

    2) Karate\u2019s Kumete – Above 65 Kg<\/h3>\n

    Another \u2018gold\u2019 for Nepal in Karate event part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG. This time, it\u2019s from the Karate\u2019s Kumete- Above 65 kg category. And, Anupama Magar won this for her nation! She did so by defeating Pakistani Nargis by 6-2 points. Now, Nepal\u2019s medal count in Karate reached 10.<\/p>\n

    Meanwhile, Sonam Lama bagged \u2018bronze\u2019 in Karate\u2019s Kumeto \u2013 Below 50 Kg category.<\/p>\n

    3) \u2018Gold\u2019 in Wushu<\/h3>\n

    Dipal Hamal of Nepal got his nation a \u2018gold\u2019 in Wushu part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG. He won this in the Nannun al-round category by scoring 19.32 points. Meanwhile, Hari Prasad Gol bagged \u2018silver\u2019 in the event.<\/p>\n

    4) 4 Medals in Cycling<\/h3>\n

    Nepal registered another medal in 13th<\/sup> SAG. This time in \u2018Cycling\u2019. Nisma Shrestha and Rajesh Magar bagged a gold medal each in Cycling event held at Sahid Park, Gokarna on December 04, 2019. The duo won these medals in Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s categories, respectively, in the cycling down-hill championship of the event.<\/p>\n

    This is the first time such an event is conducted part of SAG and the distance of cycling is 1 km.<\/p>\n

    5) To Semi-finals in Badminton<\/h3>\n

    Continuing its success streak, Nepal moved to semi-finals in Men\u2019s singles, doubles and mixed doubles the badminton series being held part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG in Pokhara. That was Ranjit Tamang in Men\u2019s Singles, a team of Prince Dahal and Praphulla Maharjan in Men\u2019s Doubles and the Bikash Shrestha-Anu Maya Rai duo in mix doubles. While Tamang made it defeating Bangladesh, the two duos made it against Bhutan in separate matches.<\/p>\n

    6) Another Gold in Taekwondo<\/h3>\n

    Sangita Basyal bagged a \u2018gold\u2019 medal in Taekwondo under the 62-kg category in the SAG event held at Satdobato. She won against Indian opponent Gagan Jyotgill by 19-8 points.<\/p>\n

    Day3 (December 03, 2019): 15 Games Today<\/h3>\n

    The Day-3 of SAG on December 03, 2019 will see a total of 15 games to be played in Kathmandu and Pokhara. The list includes Athletics, badminton, cricket, cycling, football, golf, karate, khoko, shooting, table tennis, tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball and wushu.<\/p>\n

    While badminton, women\u2019s cricket, women\u2019s football and triathlon are scheduled to be held in Pokhara, the remaining will be held in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n

    Two games each under Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s football will see Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives facing each other, at Pokhara Stadium.<\/p>\n

    Volleyball finals in both men\u2019s and women\u2019s categories are also scheduled for the day at the Tripureshwor-based covered hall. Nepal will take on Sri Lanka U-23 in cricket match<\/a> today at the TU Ground in Kirtipur.<\/p>\n

    1) Two Medals in Wushu<\/h3>\n

    Bijay Sinjali got the 16th<\/sup> gold for Nepal in Wushu sport.\u00a0Sinjali won the medal at the Wushu Taolu men\u2019s match held part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG at the Lanagakhel-based Nepal Army hall in in Kathmandu on December 03, 2019. Susmita Tamang bagged the gold in Wushu Taolu women\u2019s match.<\/p>\n

    After a resounding victory in yesterday\u2019s Karate matches, Nepal bagged another gold in a new karate match today. The match played at the Saatdobato-based karate hall saw Nepal\u2019s Nabin Rasaili winning the country\u2019s 18th<\/sup> gold medal. Nabin defeated Bangladeshi player for 8-6 in the 67 kg category.<\/p>\n

    3) Football – Nepal Beats Sri Lanka<\/h3>\n

    Nepal had a winning start in the women\u2019s football part of the ongoing 13th<\/sup> SAG. In a match held in Pokhara Stadium on December 03, 2019, Nepal defeated Sri Lanka by 1-0 after Saru Limbu scoring a single goal at the 86th<\/sup> minute.<\/p>\n

    4) Gold in \u2018Running\u2019<\/h3>\n

    Continuing the winning streak, Nepal bagged a gold in the Women’s 10000 m running race. Santoshi Shrestha did this rare feat by successfully completing the distance in 35.07.94 minutes. With Shrestha winning gold, India’s Kavita Yadav, who took 35.7.94 minutes, had to settle down at \u2018Silver\u2019.<\/p>\n

    Nepal fought out Bhutan by 4-0 in the 13th<\/sup> SAG Men\u2019s football match at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on December 03, 2019.\u00a0While Sujal Shrestha made the first two goals at the 5th and 50th minutes, Abhishek Rijal made one at the 65th<\/sup> minute and Mikchen Tamang scored the 4th<\/sup> one at the 76th<\/sup> minute.<\/p>\n

    Athletics once again turned out to be positive for Nepal, as the country bagged a \u2018bronze\u2019 medal in the ongoing 13th<\/sup> South Asian Games.\u00a0Tanka Karki brought the medal for the country in the men\u2019s 1,500 meters race, finishing that in 3 minutes 59.20 seconds.\u00a0However, Karki remained only next to India\u2019s Ajaya Kumar Saro and Ajit Kumar, who claimed gold and silver medals.<\/p>\n

    Whereas in women\u2019s category, Sri Lanka bagged a gold, while India got silver and bronze.<\/p>\n

    6) Volleyball<\/h3>\n

    Nepal bagged \u2018silver\u2019 medal in the volleyball match held part of the 13th<\/sup> SAG on December 03, 2019. Beginning with a disappointing start (25-18) in the first set against India, Nepali women team bounced back in the second (25-23) and third sets (25-21). However, they couldn\u2019t perform well in fourth (25-20) and fifth sets (15-6). Finally, the Himalayan nation lost to India in the tournament and ended up with silver.<\/p>\n

    Overall, the day ended with Nepal\u2019s medal count reaching 46, including 23 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze medals. While, India is second in the medal tally with 42 medals, followed by Sri Lanka in third position with 48 medals, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Bhutan.<\/p>\n

    The Day-2 of the 13th<\/sup> SAG saw Nepal on December 02, 2019 ended with Nepal at the top of the medals table with 24 medals, of which 15 were Gold.<\/p>\n

    1) Karate-Men\u2019s Brings First \u2018Gold\u2019 to Nepal<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Nepal’s Manday Kaji Shrestha offered to the nation its first \u2018gold\u2019 in 13th<\/sup> SAG in the Senior Karate Senior Men’s Individual Kata event at the Karate Hall, Satdobato in Lalitpur, on December 02, 2019.<\/p>\n

    Shrestha won over Pakistan’s Niama Tullah by 25.72 points, while the latter bagged silver with 24.92 points. Similarly, Sri Lanka’s Santhara Rasa Balmaj claimed a bronze medal. He also bagged two gold medals in Karate Single Kata and Karate Group-wise Kata events.\u00a0Karate (55 kg category) \u2013 Laxman Tamang also bagged a gold in the Karate Men\u2019s (55 kg category).<\/p>\n
