Summit <\/em>in Baku, Azerbaijan concluded on October 26, 2019 with the Baku Declaration.<\/p>\nThe NAM was held between October 25-26, 2019 and was attended by 30 member states Heads of States and Governments and Vice-Presidents, all 120 member countries\u2019 Deputy Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers, 17 observer countries\u2019 representatives and 10 observer organizations<\/p>\n
It was held under the theme \u201cUpholding the Bandung Principles to ensure concerted and adequate response to the challenges of the contemporary world<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\nThe declaration calls on all members to increase the movement\u2019s effectiveness by further developing NAM as a dynamic and effective mechanism to represent, coordinate and promote all the member countries interests and priorities.<\/p>\n
Besides, the NAM member states have also decided to strengthen its role for making the movement relevant in the current context of the geopolitical scenario, by promoting and upholding its basic principles.<\/p>\n
The member states pledged to remain united and steadfast against emerging threats and challenges to international peace, security and development.<\/p>\n
PM Oli Reiterates Nepal\u2019s Commitment to NAM<\/h3>\n

Nepal PM Oli returned to home country on October 27, 2019 after attending the 18th<\/sup> NAM Summit.<\/p>\nAddressing a media briefing upon his arrival, he said that Nepal would gradually strengthen its role in the NAM.<\/p>\n
“NAM could settle the dispute within some of its members through dialogue and work more actively to reduce global in equality,” he stated.<\/p>\n
Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali quoted Prime Minister Oli during the summit, who had said that the disputes and differences between NAM member states must not be brought up in a manner that hinders the spirit of harmony, unity, understanding and cooperation in the NAM during.<\/p>\n

The Nepali Prime Minister further pitched for a cohesive, externally influential, strong and united NAM so that long-standing global indifferences are eliminated once and for all.<\/p>\n
“We want NAM that helps leverage the strength and capability of the South so that all developing nations build collective strengths to address development challenges to achieve shared prosperity. We want to see a NAM that takes up burning global issues in a systematic manner and devises concrete solutions to address them,” Oli said while urging NAM to contribute to strengthening multilateralism keeping the United Nations as its center.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
PM Oli termed the Non-Aligned Movement as a decisive response to an unjust, unfair and dehumanizing world, wherein the basic human essential of freedom was denied and brutally suppressed.<\/p>\n
“We take immense pride in saying that the five principles of peaceful co-existence better known as Panchasheela, were derived from the teachings of Buddha, the immortal son of Nepal.
