After Panchayath<\/em> <\/a>(2018), Nepali movie Bulbul (2019) <\/em>is shortlisted for the prestigious Oscar Awards. <\/em>The film was submitted for the International Feature Film<\/em> category.<\/p>\n The movie features the life and trials of the main character Bulbul <\/em>\u2013 a tempo truck driver played by Swastima Khadka.<\/p>\n Bulbul is faced by a multitude of challenges including patriarchy and health care, while she tries to make a living in Kathmandu in the absence of her husband (played by Mukun Bhusal). Bhusal who is a Nepali migrant<\/a> worker in Saudi Arabia finds it difficult to send her money.<\/p>\n The film also showcases the struggle of women who are affected by theirs husband\u2019s migration to foreign destinations for work.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bulbul, which was released in February 2019, won honors such as Best Director <\/em>for Director Binod Paudel and Best Actress Trophy for Khadka\u2019s performance at Nepal\u2019s National Awards<\/em>.<\/p>\n Director Paudel has also won laurels for his works in the past, including the screenplay for award-winning Saanghuro<\/em> (2013).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nepal earned just one nomination for Foreign Language<\/em> category at the Oscars \u2013 Himalaya <\/em>(1999) \u2013 a film by Eric Valli till date.<\/p>\n The country has submitted 11 films for the Oscars over the years.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" After Panchayath (2018), Nepali movie Bulbul (2019) is shortlisted for the prestigious Oscar Awards.
