The Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali is currently in Maldives to hold bilateral talks with his Maldives counterpart Abdulla Shahid.<\/p>\n
The Nepali FM met with Shahid in Male on September 02, 2019, wherein the two officials talked about both countries\u2019 mutual interest in areas of cooperation in the regional and global arena, climate change, trade, tourism, while also expressing satisfaction over the current state of bilateral relations.<\/p>\n
Minister Gyawali expressed his gratitude to the Maldives Government for providing employment opportunities to Nepali migrant workers. In turn, Shahid also expressed his gratitude to the Nepal Government for extending scholarship programs to Maldivian students studying in Nepal, especially in the field of medical science.<\/p>\n

The foreign ministers also discussed the potential of the tourism sector, while agreeing to collaborate for its promotion. Taking the opportunity, Minister Gyawali urged the Maldivian Foreign Minister to encourage more Maldivian tourists visits to Nepal as part of its VNY 2020 campaign.<\/p>\n
Gyawali also stressed on the need for enhanced cooperation between the mountain countries and island states to address climate change.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, Gyawali invited Shahid to attend the Sagarmatha Sambad<\/em> to be held in Kathmandu<\/a>. The event is the Nepal Government\u2019s flagship international conference, which will witness the Nepal Government\u2019s discussions with South Asian countries and beyond on contemporary global issues including climate change and global warming.<\/p>\n
