driving licence<\/a> after they pass the existing written test and trial.<\/p>\nThe MTPD in association with the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) is looking to launch the new rule within two months, according to MTPD chief Mingmar Lama.<\/p>\n
According to the DoTM, at least 500 people will take driving test for licence.<\/p>\n
According to traffic police, Kathmandu Valley has more than 828,000 vehicles.<\/p>\n
The road test will be conducted in various places: Jorpati to Gokarneshwar, Machhapokhari to Kakane, Balkhu to Chobhar, Narayan Gopal Chowk to Budanilakantha and Bhaktapur to Banepa road sections.<\/p>\n
MTPD officials will ask people to follow instructions and they must pass the road test to get a driving licence. After passing the road test, they will have to attend an hour-long \u2018traffic awareness class\u2019, said Lama.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, traffic police said that vehicles must get washed before entering the Kathmandu Valley. For this, wash centres would be installed at various places where vehicles can pay and get washed.
