    The Nepali Minister for Labor and Employment, Farmullah Mansoor, on Tuesday, urged the Government of South Korea to increase the employment opportunities and facilities for the Nepali migrants working in South Korea.<\/p>\n

    In a meeting with Park Yong-Sik, the Ambassador of South Korea for Nepal, the Labor Minister also urged the South Korean Government to increase employment opportunities to the skilled and technical Nepali human resources, such as doctors, engineers, among others.<\/p>\n

    The Labor Minister also pitched for an increased quota for the Nepali workers to be employed under the Employment Permit System (EPS). Here, it is noteworthy that the two countries signed a deal in 2007, where in, South Korea agreed to hiring of Nepali migrants under EPS. So far, South Korea has reportedly hired 35,000 members and is likely to hire 10,000 more for the coming year.<\/p>\n

    Speaking about opportunities for \u2018care givers\u2019 in particular, the Minister made recommendations to enhance opportunities for female Nepali migrants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    The Minister\u2019s recommendations gain significance in the light of the increasing suicide and death rates<\/a> of Nepali migrants working in South Korea.<\/p>\n

    Responding to the Minister on a positive note, the ambassador confirmed that he would place the issues before the Government of South Korea.<\/p>\n
