The Indian Government extended a grant of NPR 1.6 billion to Nepal for earthquake reconstruction activity in Nuwakot and Gorkha districts on June 10, 2019.<\/p>\n
The grant will help 50,000 Nepalis rebuild their damaged homes devastated by the 2015 Gorkha earthquake<\/a>.<\/p>\n Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri presented a cheque worth NPR 1.6 billion to Nepal Finance Secretary Nepal Rajan Khanal, according to the Indian embassy\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n India will partner with United Nations Development Program<\/em> (UNDP) and United Nations Office for Project Services<\/em> (UNOPS) to provide socio-technical assistance for Nepali house owners to rebuild homes in line with Nepal Government\u2019s earthquake resilient home guidelines.<\/p>\n India has presented a total of NPR 4.5 billion in grants for Nepal housing reconstruction works.<\/p>\n On the occasion, the Indian Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Nepal Government<\/a> for the partnership and assured that India will remain committed to the completion of Nepal\u2019s earthquake reconstruction activity<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Nepali side in return appreciated the continued efforts and generous support of the Indian Government.<\/p>\n Earlier in February 2016, Nepal and India also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth USD 100 million for the reconstruction of 50,000 private houses in the aforementioned districts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Indian Government extended a grant of NPR 1.6 billion to Nepal for earthquake reconstruction activity…<\/span><\/p>\n
