Eighth-grader Nihar Janga from Texas stunned the world when he won the 31st<\/sup> Annual National Geographic GeoBee <\/em>competition on May 22, 2019.<\/em><\/p>\n A student from Austin\u2019s Canyon Ridge Middle School, Janga was also among the top ten finalists in the 2018 GeoBee and winner of the 2016 National Spelling Bee.<\/p>\n The event was conducted by the National Geographic Society at its headquarters in Washington, where it also held the first-ever GeoChallenge national-level competition.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The competition was held to draw innovative solutions from young brains for modern problems.
