In a motivating initiative targeted at young girls, President Bidya Devi Bhandari launched the Daughter Education Insurance scheme <\/em>on February 21, 2019.<\/p>\n The scheme has been introduced under Province 2 Beti Padhau, Beti Bachau<\/em> campaign, for which it has set aside a budget of NPR 890 million for the fiscal year 2018-19.<\/p>\n Speaking at the inauguration program in Trijuddha Secondary School in Birgunj, Bhandari underscored the need for taking ahead the \u2018daughter education\u2019 program.<\/p>\n “Educating the daughters is the need of the day as today’s daughters are tomorrow’s responsible citizens. Education should be imparted to daughters in such a way that they would be able to stand on a strong foundation of culture,” added the President<\/span>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Talking about the campaign, Bhandari said that the constitution has also ensured women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n She highlighted Nepali women\u2019s role in social, economic and political development of the country, while stressing on the importance of eliminating unethical social practices<\/a> like dowry system that are still existent in the society.<\/p>\n Bhandari reiterated that daughters, daughters-in-law and all women should be treated with respect.<\/p>\n
