Nepal is the land of literature and culture.<\/p>\n
Taking ahead this spirit, a local organizer called \u2018Bookworm Foundation<\/strong>\u2019 organized the Nepal Literature Festival 2019 in Pokhara<\/a> on December 25, 2018.<\/p>\n The seventh edition of IME Nepal Literature Festival is bringing together experts from diverse fields such as sociologists, litterateurs, writers, artists, and politicians.<\/p>\n The festival organized on the lakeside of the Pokhara\u2019s Fewa Lake has wide variety of publications of different categories, creative paintings for all ages, among others on public display.<\/p>\n Manisha Koirala\u2019s \u2018Healing: How Cancer gave me a new life\u2019<\/em>, Chetan Bhagat\u2019s \u2018The Girl in Room 105\u2019, <\/em>an English novel titled \u2018Confession of a Thug\u2019 <\/em>by an English writer Philip Meadows Taylor, were among hundreds of books of different languages displayed at the event.<\/p>\n British Council\u2019s painting with \u2018Creating Heroines\u2019 written on it, surrounded by different styles of artistic representations of people, was one of the key highlights of the event.<\/p>\n Manisha Koirala, acid-attack victim Sima Basnet, renowned Kathmandu<\/a>-based Buddhist nun Ani Choying Dolma, were among others present at the event.<\/p>\n On the occasion, Sima Basnet shared her story with the audience and also shared some inspiring words on struggle in life.<\/p>\n Controversy Around<\/strong> The event organizers have reportedly chopped down branches of the trees around the Phewa(or)Fewa Lake<\/a> stating that \u2018trees were affecting the look and feel of the program\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cThey said the branches were obstructing the scenery and cut them down without permission,\u201d says Jagat Bahadur Pahari<\/span>, Ward-6 chairman of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The organizers have cut down a total of 24 trees, following which the civil society members filed a complaint stating, \u2018they have degraded the Lake\u2019s beauty\u2019. \nArt and literature on one side, the Literature festival also drew some criticism because of some anti-legal practices by its organizers.<\/p>\n
