Two talented youth from India and Mexico emerged winners of the 2018 Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change.<\/p>\n
Winners 20-year Indian Vikas Yadav and 20-year Mexican Andrea Sofia Roseles Vega were shortlisted for the Green & Climate Friendly Jobs<\/em> and Responsible Production & Consumption <\/em>categories, respectively.<\/em><\/p>\n Yadav and Vega were chosen through online public vote and will be honored in a ceremony at the COP24<\/a> Hub on December 6, 2018. They will travel to Katowice for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP24) <\/em>to be held in December 2018.<\/p>\n The young duo grabbed a rare chance of working with the UN Climate Change\u2019s Global Climate Action Team in covering the conference highlights and report the proceedings to the global youth audience.<\/p>\n Vikas for \u2018Go Green\u2019<\/strong> <\/a><\/p>\n Through his video, Vikas urges people to \u2018Go Green\u2019 by shifting to more natural growing and management techniques.<\/p>\n \u201cThese two young people and their videos are encouraging examples of the global climate action needed to address climate change. \u201cI congratulate Sofia and Vikas, and I applaud all the entrants showcasing international youth\u2019s essential response to climate change,\u201d said Patricia Espinosa<\/span> Executive Secretary, UN Climate Change.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The 2018 Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change received 300 entries from youth between 18-30 years in more than 100 countries from Ajerbaijan to Yemen.<\/p>\n Vega\u2019s Eco Urban<\/strong> The project focuses on collecting and reusing waste including plastic and old clothes in a bid to clean up streets.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n The video also showcases how people can raise funds by selling products made from recycled material. \nIn his 3-minute video, Vikas takes viewers on a visit to rural India, where more than 70 percent of the population is engaged in agriculture. Since food is vulnerable to climate change, farmers share how innovative agricultural practices can play an important role in mitigating and adapting to climate change.<\/p>\n\n
