    In association with the world\u2019s leading badminton equipment provider Yonex and Nepal Badminton Association (NBA), the Kathmandu-based Zest Badminton Academy is presenting the National Badminton Championship in Basundhara, Kathmandu during September 19-22, 2018.<\/p>\n

    The four-day event received huge attention from badminton players of the country and has so far seen nearly 305 shuttlers, including 35 in men\u2019s singles and 17 in women\u2019s singles events, registering for the championship.<\/p>\n

    \u201cWe are overwhelmed by the number of participants which is a massive rise compared to the last edition,\u201d says Sudip Yonjan<\/span>, Tournament Coordinator and Chief Coach of NBA .<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    The tournament is going to see around 43 teams involving 17 districts, schools and clubs.<\/p>\n

    In total, the tournament will have events in nine categories: Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Singles, Men\u2019s Doubles event in two categories (open and unranked), U-15 Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s open, Mixed Doubles, Masters for contestants of 35 and above 45-yrs of age.<\/p>\n

    Academy\u2019s long wait for private participation made them decide on organizing this tournament on their own to encourage Nepal\u2019s Badminton sport.<\/p>\n

    \u201cAs there were no badminton academies operated from private sector, we decided to start our own in view of providing opportunities to badminton aspirants. Yonjan has been mentoring the aspiring shuttlers so far in the academy. The Academy aims at producing future stars and is not profit-oriented,\u201d says Madhu Sudan Pathak<\/span>, President of the Academy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    The Academy also has hostel facilities for around 25 players and has also been offering space to national players for practicing their sport.<\/p>\n
