Indian Embassy Marks ITEC 55th Anniversary Celebrations

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal marked the 55th Anniversary celebrations of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day at Hotel Marriot in the capital on September 30, 2019.

Nepal Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbahadur Pandit was invited as Chief Guest of the event.

Indian Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri, who participated in the event, said that the ITEC has played an important role in mentoring and training Nepal’s senior officers and others at India’s most prestigious institutions.

 

The program has greatly contributed to Nepali officials skill upgradation and human resources.

ITEC 55th Anniversary Celebration Nepal

Close to 150 ITEC alumni attended the celebrations, including secretaries from Ministries and Departments, which have availed ITEC courses human resources skill development.

The ITEC training courses span training in the field of banking, computers, education, engineering, hydrology, information technology, journalism, legislation, manpower research, power and remote sensing among others.

Moreover, a number of Nepal government institutions have benefited from specially-tailored courses to suit the requirement of the respective ministry, some of which include:

ITEC Anniversary Celebration in Nepal

  • Public Finance Management Course at the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance (INGAF), New Delhi – attended by 62 Nepal Finance Ministry officials
  • Investigation and Control of Revenue Leakage at the National Academy of Customs Excise, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Faridabad in March 2019 – attended by 2 batches of 50 Nepal Revenue Investigation Department
  • Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism at NACIN – attended by 60 officials
  • Tech in Alternative Energy, Hydrology, Irrigation Water Management and Water Resources Development at IIT, Roorkee – 34 Nepali water resources experts

The ITEC program is India’s endeavor at sharing its development experience with other world nations including Nepal.
