]]>On Sunday, the Home Ministry issued a circular to the immigration department, Tribhuvan airport, and concerned local offices at geographical borders.
It directed them to stop South African citizens from seeping into Nepal. Phanindra Mani Pokharel issued this statement.
“A decision has been made to bar South African nationals except for diplomats, officials, and those coming for emergency tasks. It will remain in effect until the next notice,” Pokharel stated.
The new Omicron was first detected in South Africa, and it was also spotted in other countries. Governments across the globe have adopted similar travel bans against South Africans.

During this trip, the Nepali General will be honored with an honorary general of the Indian Army. Indian President Ram Kovind would confer the title.
This has been an ongoing practice between the two countries as both of them have been conferring honorary top ranks to Chiefs of the other.
Nepal Army’s Lieutenant General Bal Karki gave the send-off to General Sharma at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
General Sharma will be having meetings with Indian Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar and Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat.
He will also confer with Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary.
General Sharma will return to Nepal on Friday.

]]>According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), the Israeli Government has selected 1,175 Nepali job seekers, including 821 women and 354 men.
In January 2021, Nepal and Israel signed an ‘Implementation Protocol’ for the implementation of ‘Agreement related to temporary employment of Nepali workers in the labor market of Israel’.
As per the agreement, the Israeli Government has made public the list of 1,175 Nepalis selected for employment in their country.
The shortlisted Nepali youths will get the opportunity to work as caregivers and in hospitals, nursing homes, and daycare centers.
Israel is one of the most lucrative foreign employment destinations for Nepalis. The Middle Eastern nation provides most of the jobs related to caregivers.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Tel Aviv, there are around 2,500 Nepalis working in Israel.

]]>During an executive program on Asia Pacific Region’s Tourism Policy and Strategy held in the Maldives, the UNWTO officials have assured persistent support for Nepal’s tourism sector.
On the occasion, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) CEO Dr. Dhananjay Regmi spoke with UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and Director of Regional Department for Asia and the Pacific Harry Hwang.
They discussed about tourism recovery and other serious issues of tourism sector in the post-pandemic era.
“The UNWTO officials are willing to support Nepal’s sustainable tourism development, natural and mountaineering tourism development and institutional capacity enhancement,” said Dr. Regmi.
“Different countries are receiving various types of support from the UNWTO. They have received direct benefit too. In this context, the meetings with them in regard to support to Nepal remained fruitful,” he added.
The UNWTO have committed to organize some tourism programs of Asia Pacific region in Nepal in 2023.
During the program, Dr. Regmi also met Maldivian Foreign Minister. They discussed the issues related to tourism development and mutual cooperation between two countries.

]]>The UK government issued a notice expressing that the restrictions on 47 countries from October 11. Thanks to this announcement, the jet setters who land from Nepal in the United Kingdom will not be forced to enter a mandatory quarantine.
The same rules apply to travelers who are fully vaccinated in 37 new countries and territories. However, they are eligible for this treatment if they don’t visit any red list territory 10 days before entering the United Kingdom.
The administration of the United Kingdom added they would recognize the proofs of vaccinations if they were the vaccines of Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen and Janssen. The vaccination certifications from those 37 countries and territories will be accepted as valid.
The passengers who are leaving from Nepal to the UK should carry along their vaccination proofs.

Narayan Khadka will be addressing the world at the UN General Assembly. The theme of his address is “Building resilience through hope to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainably, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of the people and revitalize the United Nations.”
The delegation also includes Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal, Joint Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and Nepal’s Permanent Representative to UN, Amrit Rai.

The President of Nepal, Bidya Devi Bhandari, is expected to officialize the appointment this afternoon by making Narayan undertake the oath of office and secrecy.
The incumbent coalition government had earlier reached a consensus that the foreign affairs minister would be appointed immediately.
Prime Minister was keen on appointing the Minister immediately as the ministry was in a dilemma as to whom to send for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Sources stated that the new Minister would represent Nepal, and he will fly to the UNGA tonight itself.

]]>In the first two months of the fiscal year 2021/22, Nepal has seen a sharp rise in foreign investments.
Foreign investors from six countries have registered 71 projects at the Department of Industry (DoI) during mid-July and mid-September.
Surprisingly, around 30 of the registered projects are related to tourism business, the highest of all.
The foreign investors are looking to run hotels in Nepal, proposing to invest in around 25 hotels in just two months of the current FY.
Likewise, service sector received 20 proposed projects and manufacturing industry received 15. Moreover, four of the proposed projects are related to agriculture sector and one each to energy sector and IT industry.
Of the proposed foreign direct investments, 62 companies are from China, the highest of all.
Four companies are from India, two from the US, and one each from the Netherlands, Japan, and Vietnam.
