Nepal Initiates ‘COVID-19 Insurance Scheme’

While the Nepali Government is scrambling to implement best strategies to combat COVID-19, the organizations, companies and individuals are demonstrating their commitment in the need of the hour.

Lately, the Nepal Insurance Board has ordered all the non-insurance companies to provide ‘COVID-19 Insurance Scheme’ in view of the growing threat of coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Committee’s Executive Director Raju Raman Poudel, the insurance scheme is initiated to cover the low-income people affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The Committee has classified the ‘COVID-19 Insurance Scheme’ into two categories, namely ‘A’ and ‘B’.

COVID-19 Insurance Scheme: Category A

Insurance Amount

Insurance Fee

Individual Insurance Plan Family Insurance Plan
NPR 100,000 per person NPR 1,000 per person NPR 600 per person

COVID-19 Insurance Scheme: Category B

Insurance Amount

Insurance Fee

Individual Insurance Plan Family Insurance Plan
NPR 50,000 per person NPR 500 per person NPR 300 per person

 

So far, the Nepali Government has reported 16 coronavirus infection cases. Currently, 14 patients are undergoing treatment while 2 have already recovered and discharged. However, there are no critical cases.

As of today, the coronavirus has infected 2,184,681 people and claimed 146,898 lives. Currently, 1,484,556 patients are undergoing treatment across the world and 56,601 among them are in critical condition.
