Bandipur Records 150,000 Tourists: January-December, 2018

Recently, Nepal made headlines for reaching a target of welcoming 1 Million Tourists.

But not many know that Nepal’s Bandipur alone drew 150,000 tourists to the country within one year, contributing to Nepal’s overall arrivals in 2018!

The Tourism Development Committee Chairperson Baisha Bahadur Gurung informed that Bandipur received 150,000 tourists between January – December 2018.

“Roughly 80 percent of the visitors are domestic,” said Bahadur, while adding that the hilltop settlement received higher number of international tourists from the United States, Thailand, India, China, and Korea.

The Minister shares that there was a high inflow of domestic tourist to Bandipur throughout the English New Year 2019.

Bahadur also observes that Nepalis have started moving around domestic places, promoting domestic tourism.

Bandipur witnesses a huge tourist flow in winter season with nearly 300 visitors per day. The settlement is home to 57 hotels and 22 homestays.

Following the path towards the country’s Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign, recently Lumbini also registered a tourism mark of 1.1 million tourists between January-October 2018.

Looks like Nepal is going to achieve its 2 Million Tourist mark much ahead of its 2020 deadline!
