Nepal Chosen As Prestigious ‘Formula E’ Race Destination!

Nepal will play host to the world’s famous ‘Formula E Race’ in May 2021!

Formula E Championship Founder and Chairman Alejandro Agag made an announcement stating that Larjung in Mustang is chosen as one of the five-race destinations across the world.

“We are here in the heart of the Himalayas to announce that Extreme E will be the first race to ever be staged in the highest mountain range of the world, the Himalayas,” said Agag in an event today.

Earlier, the Formula E Championship was supposed to be held in India and was later shifted to Bhutan following tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Formula E organizers then decided to move the venue to Nepal since the Bhutanese topography was not suitable for such an event.

Agag finds Nepal the most suitable place for the event. The organizers state that the championship would support the Mustang region, which is victim to the effects of climate change due to a large concentration of glaciers.

About Formula E

‘Formula E’ Race

Formula E is the world’s only single-seater electric car race series and was first organized in 2014. 12 teams from across the world will be participating in the race. The vehicles in the race are entirely battery-powered.

The race in Nepal will be special because electric SUVs cars will be utilized, unlike the rest of the world where electric cars are used.

The event is being organized in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi said that the agreement for the same would be signed soon.

All the best Nepal!
