The Nepal telecom firm, Ncell Pvt. Ltd. organized a short film competition titled Buwa – a series of short films on its social media platform in view of Kushe Aunsi – Father’s Day in Nepal, during August first week.
As per the telecom company’s statement, Buwa (meaning Father) by Kamal Subedi and team bagged the first prize – a cash prize of NPR 100,000 and free 10 GB data per month for three of the team members for up to one year.
Following is the list of Buwas – short film series prize winners:
“The main aim of this competition was to promote the budding young talents in film making. With over 70 entries from all over Nepal, it was no easy task for the panel of judges to select the 10 best films and winners. There were founder of QFX Cinema and producer Nakim Uddin, film maker Asif Shah and journalist Bidhya Chapagain in the panel of judges,” said Ncell in its statement released on August 29, 2019.
The Top 10 short films were screened amid a premier at QFX Cinemas in Labim Mall, Pulchowk on August 28, 2019. Several celebrities, veteran figures, press personnel and artists from Nepal watched the screenings.
“The entries and selected films highlighted the creativity and unique skills in storytelling by displaying the relationship with one’s father. Ncell will release the top 10 films throughout the day on Father’s Day on social media platforms,” read Ncell’s press statement.
Ncell Chief Technology Officer Muhammad Adeel Israr presented the rewards to the prize winners.

Earlier this week, Ncell Pvt. Ltd. had also organized the Second International Conference on Quality Education 2019, drawing important education stakeholders attention to improve education quality in government schools.
