The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has allotted Rs 50 million to the Sajha Yatayat Cooperatives Limited under a complementary agreement. The amount will help Sajha Yatayat Co-op improve the public transport under the ‘smart city’ campaign.

KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya gave a cheque of Rs 50 million to Sajha Yatayat Cooperatives Limited chairman Kanak Mani Dixit at a programme held in Kathmandu.

Sajha will use this money to operate 12 deluxe buses and 1 ordinary bus. With this the Sajha will run 43 buses with support from KMC.

Mayor Shakya said the support is aimed to displace the small vehicles in the Kathmandu Valley.
Also, the buses would provide free service to the senior citizens, citizens holding the poor identity cards, the disabled persons and children under five years of age.

Till date, a total of Rs 150 million has been allotted to Sajha.

Sajha has been operating its buses for 365 days.
