In an exciting announcement, The Netherlands Cricket Board (KNCB) said that Voorburg CC (one of the country’s biggest cricket clubs) and VRA Ground (Amsterdam) will host the ‘two-match series’ between Nepal and The Netherlands.

The matches will mark Nepal’s ‘maiden ODI’ after it won the much-coveted status at the World Cup Qualifier in March 2018. Same is the case with The Netherlands who won its ODI status following a victory at the World Cup Qualifier 2015-17 (after they lost the status in 2014).

Both teams will be flown to London for the T20I matches at Lord’s on July 29, 2018 post which the ODI series will begin.

“It’s going to be a fantastic series for both countries as it will be our first ODI since regaining our status lost in 2014, it will also be Nepal’s first ODI ever,” says The Netherlands coach Ryan Campbell.

“These games also present us with another opportunity to expose our youngsters to top quality cricket and I’m excited to keep watching their development,” adds Campbell while emphasizing on the importance of these matches.

Background:
The new ODI entrants, Nepal and The Netherlands, were added alongside Scotland and UAE among the 12 leading ODI nations to the expanded ICC ODI Team Rankings from June 1, 2018. These four teams will battle it out with the remaining teams and consequently win team rating points & performance rankings on the ranks table.
