]]>Joshi was an active member of the party since its inception in 1947 and was one of the eyewitnesses of the 1950 uprising. He was a popular Gandhian and socialist leader known for his struggle for democracy. After the restoration of democracy in 1990, Joshi was twice elected as Member of Parliament and worked as the Minister of Tourism in G.P. Koirala’s government.
Joshi remained unmarried throughout his life. His last rites are being performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat today.
Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, conveyed his condolences through a message on Twitter. He said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of pioneer leader Joshi. I express my sincere condolence to his families and I hope he will rest in peace”.
