This is the first such Group in the history of Nepal-Brazil ties and is formed as a result of the recently-approved Statute to promote inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

The Group aims at continuing the bilateral relationship between the Parliaments of both the nations by way of parliamentary visits, symposiums and seminars.

Besides, the group will also work on promotion of exchange of knowledge and information in political, cultural and linguistic matters, including publications, legislative matters, parliamentary experiences, research and studies on socio-economic issues.

The six-member Executive Committee of the Group, elected by the Chamber of Deputies, will focus on strengthening relations and exchanges between the two nations.

Weliton Prado is the President of the Committee, followed by other key members such as Jo Moraes, Gorete Pereira, Soraya Santos, Hildo Rocha and Felipe Bornier.

The Group was constituted in the Chamber of Deputies (the Lower House) of the National Congress (Parliament) of Brazil, added the release.
