The 2020 edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL), which was scheduled from March 14-28, 2020, has been indefinitely postponed over the rising concerns of the coronavirus outbreak.
The EPL organizers’ decision came in response to the Nepali Government’s advice to avoid meetings, festivals, functions and any other public gatherings.
According to the EPL founder and Managing Director Aamir Akhtar, the decision to postpone the upcoming EPLT20 was taken after consulting the Nepal Ministry of Home Affairs, the Cricket Association of Nepal, concerned franchisees, players and other stakeholders.
The EPL4 is set to feature high-profile foreign players including Chris Gayle, Upul Tharanga, Corey Anderson, Hashim Amla, Dwayne Smith and Kevin O’Brien, among others.
Meanwhile, Bhaktapur Municipality has postponed the ‘Bhaktapur festival’, which was scheduled from March 17-21, 2020, in a bid to insulate people from coronavirus infection.
As of now, the global coronavirus death toll has reached 3,387, while infecting nearly 98,436 people.
