Solar and lunar eclipses are spectacular and unique cosmic events that highly interests the people, irrespective of their age, gender, culture, and region.
The first Solar Eclipse or Surya Grahan of the year 2020 is going to fall on June 21. However, the eclipse we witness on the coming Sunday will be an annular solar eclipse during which the sun appears like a ring of fire around the area covered by the moon.
The solar eclipse in Nepal on June 21, 2020 will start at 9:30 AM NST and will go on until 3:19 PM NST.
However, the timings of the eclipse will vary with the location. Here is a list of solar eclipse timings in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lalitpur, Biratnagar, Bharatpur, and Janakpur.
Apart from Nepal, the solar eclipse will be visible from the south of Pakistan, northern India, China, and some parts of Africa including the Central African Republic, Congo and Ethiopia.
The second and the last solar eclipse of the year 2020 will take place on December 14. However, it will be a total solar eclipse. It will be visible from South America, Pacific, Atlantic, and parts of the Indian Ocean, Antarctica, and Africa.
Watching solar eclipse with naked eyes can have severe repercussions including blindness. So, ensure to take necessary precautions like wearing the prescribed protective glasses or a handheld card with a single rectangular view that meets the ISO 12312-2 International Safety Standards.
