The United States President Donald Trump reiterated US’ support to Nepal as he congratulated Nepalese and extended his best wishes ahead of Nepal’s Constitution Day tomorrow.
“Since you last recognized this important day, Nepal has achieved important progress,” said Trump.
In a message to Nepali President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on September 16, 2017, he stated that the people of US welcome the celebration of democracy in Nepal.
Taking this as an occasion, Trump appreciated the Government of Nepal’s efforts towards post-earthquake reconstruction activities that are aimed at reviving livelihoods of thousands of Nepali citizens hit by the disaster. “Your economy has improved remarkably and is poised for future growth,” he said.
He also lauded the Nepali Government’s move to conduct local-level elections saying, “Most importantly, you have held the first local elections in 20 years – a significant milestone for your democratic government.”
Nepal’s new constitution was formed by the elected representative body for the first time in September 2015 and the country will be celebrating the second anniversary of its constitution formation day on September 19, 2017.
