Internationally popular Nepali movies ‘Kalo Pothi’ (The Black Hen) and ‘Seto Surya’ (White Sun) will boycott the Nepali mainstream movie award because of theoretical differences.
Producer of ‘Kalo Pothi’ Tsering Ritar Sherpa and director and producer of the ‘Seto Surya’ Deepak Rauniyar have said that these movies will not take part in mainstream award.
However, these movies have already taken part in the National Film Award and Special Film Award by Nepal Film Development Board and Critics Film Award by Film Critics Society of Nepal.
In the country, there are many award titles that have been created under the banner of many organizations, corporate and media houses. Most of them have followed the mainstream award.
Rauniyar said that he has already written an article and shared his views about the Nepali award’s tendency. Expressing his opinion about the awards, he said that a filmmaker will have only two objectives of award, first is prestige and the second is money, and Nepali awards are not able to meet these two expectations.
