NRNA Canada Elects New Chair

In a recent event held in Toronto, Canada, presided over by its past Chairman Tulasi Sapkota and Nepali Ambassador to Canada and Cuba, the Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Canada elected its new chair.

The 10th Convention of NRNA Canada announced Gopi Kafle as its new Chairman and Chirinjivi Ghimire as the General Secretary (GS).

This announcement followed a recently-held association’s election in Toronto on Saturday.

While 17 NCC representatives casted their votes, Kafle secured 11 votes and stood ahead of his competitor Devendra Subedi (6 votes). Whereas in race for the GS position, Chirinjivi Ghimire won over Dinesh Ghimire by securing 12 votes leaving only 5 votes for Dinesh.

Raj Kumar Mahat, Ramesh Baniya and Madhav Dahal as Vice Chairmen, Devi Adhikari as Secretary, Surya Sapkota as Treasurer and Rabindra Raj Ghimire as Spokesperson were among other key members elected.

It is noteworthy that the 17 representatives were also elected recently in the association’s polls held on July 23 for electing new office bearers for a two-year term.
