#NepalFloods2017: Death Toll in Eastern Nepal Reaches 46

Eastern Nepal received a major hit in the recent floods with around 46 death casualties, 15 missing cases and hundreds of houses damaged.

Besides public, floods took away lives of around 363 domestic animals and 2,275 livestock population.

 

While around 389 houses were completely damaged, various flood and landslide victims were moved to local schools, temples and other public halls for shelter.

Besides local institutions & associations, around 4,500 paramilitary and police forces from Eastern Regional Training Centre, Regional Armed Police Battalion and Nepal Danga (chaos control) Police, District and Area Police Offices were mobilized for the relief and rescue operations in the region.

Region-wise, the floods claimed around 43 lives with majority of them from Morang (17), followed by Sunsari (12) and Jhapa (11) until Wednesday morning.

While 3 died in landslides with 2 in Panchthar and 1 in Ilam, informed the Eastern Regional Police Office, Biratnagar.
