30 players are shortlisted for the third SAFF U-18 Championship to be held in Kathmandu.
Nepal U-18 football team Head Coach Chet Narayan Shrestha selected 30 players from the earlier 46-member squad as a result of the selection match held on August 12, 2019.
Shrestha said that the players who could not make it through the selection match were promising but they need improvement.
“12 players in the squad have ‘A’ Division experience and I believe that the reduced players can improve by playing domestic competitions and leagues,” Shrestha said.
Shrestha will announce the final 23 members in the first week of September.
“My team has a clear objective to reach the final and win it. We are in a fair group and for us the important thing is Nepal is hosting the championship,” Shrestha said.
The third SAFF U-18 Championship will be held at Kathmandu’s APF Stadium between September 20-29, 2019.
Meanwhile, the Nepal SAFF U-18 team played a friendly match with Nepal SAFF U-16 team on August 09, 2019.
