Nepal Storm defeated Sri Lankan Lions by 27 runs and lifted the trophy of the Asian Club Premier League (ACPL) T20 Cricket Tournament at the Tribhuvan University Stadium in Kirtipur, Nepal.
This final match of the tournament between Nepal Storm and Sri Lankan Lions was reduced to 10-over-a-side due to rain and wet outfield. Storm batted first and scored 108-7 and restricted Lions to 81-7.
Storm’s Pawan Chandel made 42 runs in just 19 balls while Jitendra Sharma scored 23 runs in 10 balls.
In reply, Lions failed to achieve the target and fell short of 28 runs to win the match.
Sources claim some Lions players checked out the hotel without informing the organizers and they were forced to use unregistered players for the match. The organizers refused to comment on the matter.
Nepal Storm received INR 1.5 million, while runners-up Lions got INR one million.
Pawan Chandel, who was named the man-of-the-match, was declared the best player of the tournament winning INR 15,000 and INR 25,000 for the two awards respectively.
