As a special recognition, the Department of Passport under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal received a reputed ISO certification for meeting international standards in the preparation, certification and distribution of passports.
The International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) accredited the Department with the ISO 9001: 2015 certificate, making it the first government agency to receive such honor.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna, Bahadur Mahara, unveiled this certificate at an event held at the Department of Passport office, on Sunday.
Noting the Department’s achievement as a matter of pride, Mahara said the Department’s officials should keep up the spirit and attain higher goals.
“Many challenges are yet to be addressed to realize the government’s plan of issuing e-passports,” said Mahara.
Stating that the Department’s achievement is a result of transparency, professionalism and effectiveness, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi hoped that this achievement would also inspire other government agencies.
