The Sajha Party led by Rabindra Mishra and the Bibeksheel Nepali Dal led by Ujwal Thapa have merged to form the Bibeksheel Sajha Party (BSP), with a focus to establish a strong alternative political force. The unification of the two parties was announced at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Mishra and Thapa will function as the joint-coordinators of the party, which will have a 34-member central committee with 17 members each from both the constituent parties.
Addressing the gathering, Mishra said that the unified party will have a center-left political ideology and will never engage in corruption. In his speech, Thapa said that the new party will work for sweeping away the anomalies in politics and will be a platform for all rational and common forces.
The party plans to contest the third phase of the upcoming local elections on September 18.
