Dho Tarap of Nepal is the world’s highest human settlement located at an altitude of 4,080 meters. People of Dho follow the traditional Buddhist culture. Houses here are built in a traditional style with large living space underground and only a small portion visible above the ground surface. Dho falls under Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality of Dolpa District, Karnali Zone of north-western Nepal. Nepal hosts some of the highest permanent human habitats in the world.
