Kanya Puja, one of the famous festivals in Nepal, witnesses worshipping of young pre-pubescent girls as the manifestation of the divine female energy and incarnation of mother goddess Durga.
Locals call them Kumaris or Living Goddess. During the festival, girls selected as Kumaris live in temples. They are carried over chariots and are worshiped by thousands of devotees.
