Nepal has recorded 3,870 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday. This brought the total caseload to 595,364 cases.
The national health ministry has confirmed this startling development after conducting 17,676 coronavirus tests in the last 24 hours. 12,065 tests were PCR examinations, while the rest, 5,611, were antigen tests. Factoring in the 12,065 PCR tests, Nepal has conducted 3,167,129 PCR tests to this day.
The antigen tests confirmed 1,283 new coronavirus infections. With the combined data of antigen and PCR tests, the new infections total up to 5,153. The country’s active caseload has tallied up to 82,736.
Worsening this development was the fatalities data. In the last 24 hours, Nepal recorded 108 mortalities incurred by this virus. This pushed the death toll of the country to 8,098.
Despite these dismal developments, coronavirus is on the decline in Nepal. After recording 9,238 infections on May 12, Nepal has witnessed a dip in viral infections.
Buttressing this fact is the recovery rate which is at 84.7%. It has gone up relatively as Monday’s national recovery rate was at 84.2%. The total number of people who recovered from this deadly disease was 504,530 till day. 747 are in quarantine facilities right now.
The Himalayan country has vaccinated 2,804,574 people. Out of this populace, 2,113,080 people have received the first jab, while 691,494 have received both jabs.
