Nepal COVID-19 Caseload Surpasses 6,00,000 Mark!

Nepal’s coronavirus infection tally has surpassed the 6-lakh grim milestone, reaching 601,687 on Thursday with 2,874 new cases recorded across the country.

A total of 59 people succumbed to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s COVID-19 death tally to 8,239.

Meanwhile, 5,293 patients have recovered successfully from the infection, pushing the total recovery cases to 515,591. Currently, there are 77,858 active cases in Nepal.

 

The Himalayan country has been witnessing a rise in recovery rate lately. The nation’s recovery rate stood at 85.7% on Thursday, while it was 85.2% on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 15,238 COVID-19 tests, including 9,901 PCR tests and 5,337 antigen tests, were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, the total PCR tests conducted in Nepal reached 3,189,104.

So far, the Nepali Government has vaccinated a total of 2,936,113 people. Among them, 2,244,619 people have received the first dose, while only 691,494 received both doses.

Meanwhile, the ongoing vaccination drive to inculcate people aged 60 to 64 has been halted by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). As per the schedule, the campaign was supposed to continue till June 12.

“We have halted the vaccination campaign two days before the deadline as the Department of Health Services, Vaccination Division informed that it was not in a position to supply the Chinese Vero Cell vaccines from Friday,” said Hari Kunwar, The KMC Health Department Chief. The Division had provided 32,000 doses of vaccine so far.

According to the KMC, 28,000 people received the first dose of Vero Cell in three days.
