COVID-19 Crisis: Nepal to Support its Students Abroad

As the coronavirus pandemic has started inflicting serious threat on the Nepali students living abroad, the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) has come forward to assist them.

The ECAN has initiated a ‘COVID-19 Emergency Registration Form’ process to take complaints from the students abroad during the coronavirus crisis.

With this initiation, the Nepali students pursuing higher education in any country can now raise their complaints and concerns.

 

Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN)

To provide the required assistance to the students, the ECAN will collaborate with the following entities:

  • Ministry of Education, Science and Technology
  • Embassies of the concerned countries
  • Non-resident Nepalis Association (NRNA)
  • Other related educational consultancies in Nepal and abroad

Likewise, the Nepal Rastra Bank has made provisions for the parents to send a maximum USD 500 for their children in foreign countries.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Government is preparing to extend the nationwide lockdown by another week. Prime Minister KP Oli is likely to take the decision during a cabinet meeting on March 6, 2020.

So far, Nepal has reported 9 coronavirus infection cases. However, the first case has already recovered and discharged.

As of today, the coronavirus has infected 1,346,851 people and claimed 69,522 lives globally.
