Coronavirus: Nepalis to be Evacuated from Wuhan on Feb 15

The Nepali Government is likely to evacuate Nepalis in Hubei Province, the epicenter of coronavirus outbreak, on February 15, 2020.

The government has decided to send Nepal Airlines’ wide-body aircraft for the evacuation of 180 Nepalis from Wuhan, China.

In a bid to aid the evacuation process, the Nepali Government has formed a committee comprising the members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Civil Aviation and the NAC.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has mobilized 60 health workers to quarantine the evacuees.

The government has prepared isolation wards at Shivapuri, Ichangunarayan, Suryabinayak and Kharipati to quarantine the evacuees for 14 days.

The Nepali Government has started the evacuation plans upon the orders by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to evacuate Nepalis from China at the earliest.

Earlier, Nepalis in Hubei Province have approached the Nepali Embassy in China for their immediate evacuation.

Meanwhile, China has recorded most deaths from coronavirus in a single day. Ninety-seven people died from coronavirus on February 9, 2020.

As of today, i.e., February 10, 2020, the coronavirus death toll in China has reached 910 with 40,628 confirmed cases.

There are 2 death cases and 440 confirmed cases outside of China. Hong Kong and Philippines have reported 1 death case each.
