Smart City Technology Competition Builds Entrepreneurs for the Future

Twenty four groups have reached the final round of Smart City Technology Competition initiated by the Kathmandu Metropolis Urban Planning Commission and creating models to solve urban problems in Kathmandu Metropolis through technology solutions. Besides, it also aims to make the metropolis ‘technology-friendly’.

Participants were given four topics- Community and Environment, Urban Infrastructure Development, Community Service and Public Administration & Management, after which they were trained by experts for three months.

The training has helped the 24 groups gain skills that makes their product more competitive. The finalists had to undergo four rounds to enter the current stage.

Nepal Smart City Technology Competition

The winning team will receive a cash prize worth NPR 500,000. Besides, the Kathmandu Metropolis has planned to convert the best group to a business entity (entrepreneurs).

According to Kathmandu Metropolitan Planning Commission Vice Chairman Saroj Basnet, the four thematic winners will provide NPR 200,000 each.

The groups were shortlisted based on topic/concept, professional model, ability to produce, expansion capacity and presentation.
