Princess Astrid Visits Cultural and Archeological Sites in Bhaktapur

Princess Astrid of Belgium along with her husband Prince Lorenz has visited cultural and archeological sites in Bhaktapur on January 21, 2020.

The places visited include:

  • Taleju Temple
  • Siddhilaxmi Temple
  • Five-storied Temple
  • Bhairavnath Temple
  • Batsala Temple
  • Pachpannajyale Durbar, a Royal Palace with 55 Windows

Princess Astrid of Belgium visits to Bhaktapur

 

In the course of the visit, she was accompanied by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai, Bhaktapur Municipality Mayor Sunil Prajapati and other government officials.

Moreover, the princess witnessed cultural events including Devinacha (goddess dance) and Lakhe dance (typical Newari cultural dance).

On the same day, apart from visiting Bhaktapur, Princess Astrid has also attended a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwar Pokhrel.

Princess Astrid of Belgium in Nepal

Princess Astrid, the younger sister of Belgium King Philippe, had arrived in Nepal on January 19, 2020 and will be staying till January 25, 2020.

This is the first time after 1998 that a Belgian royal has paid a visit to Nepal. Earlier, King Albert II had visited Nepal during the eighties and King Philippe in 1998.
