The Nepali Government has decided to withdraw the two ordinances related to the Political Party Act and the Constitutional Council during a cabinet meeting on April 24, 2020.
The decision to this effect came on the heels of unprecedented criticism from all political parties and public.
Earlier, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari swiftly endorsed the two ordinances on April 20, 2020.
The first ordinance made it easy for the political leaders to split the party if they have 40% support and the second ordinance made it possible to convene a meeting even without the participation of the main opposition party leader.
