Nepal has recorded a decline in the number of human trafficking cases for FY 2018-19.
According to Nepal Police data, a total of 308 cases were reported in FY 2017-18, whereas a total of 228 cases were registered in FY 2018-19.
Nepal Police Spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Bishwaraj Pokharel said that increased police intervention and a public awareness campaign on human trafficking have resulted in the decline.
The Nepal Police has also set up a separate bureau to prevent human trafficking, which was established in 2018.
