Japan Grants NPR 51.7 Mn to Nepal for WASH Project

The Japanese Government has offered a grant assistance of NPR 51.7 million to Nepal for the ‘Water and Sanitation Facilities Construction and Hygiene Education Intervention Project’.

The grant contract was signed by Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Saigo Masamichi with Good Neighbors Japan CEO Koizumi Satoshi.

Under the project, around 15 primary and secondary schools in Bardiya District, Nepal will be provided with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities and education.

 

Nepal Will Be Provided With Water, Sanitation And Hygiene (Wash) Facilities And Education

The main activities of the project include

  • Construction and repair of drinking water supply facilities
  • Construction of gender-friendly toilets
  • Establishment of school WASH management committee
  • Providing menstrual hygiene management education

The project aims to improve hygiene education and gender equality in education in schools across Bardiya District.

The Nepali Government hopes that the project will strengthen the cordial friendship between the people of Nepal and Japan.
