COVID-19 Nepal: Udayapur Reports 11 New Cases, Tally Reaches 42

As of today, the Nepali Government has reported 42 coronavirus positive cases. While 37 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, 5 patients have already recovered and discharged.

So far, more than 2.55 million have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 177,641 people have died, globally. The US, Spain, Italy, France and Germany are the worst-hit countries with the most number of coronavirus cases and deaths.

According to the Nepali Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Udayapur district has reported 11 new coronavirus positive cases on April 21, 2020. Among them, 8 patients are male and 3 are female.

 

All the 11 new COVID-19 cases are those who have contact history with the 13 people who have tested positive for coronavirus while living at a mosque in Bhulke.

Earlier, swabs samples of 69 people living near the mosque were sent to the Koshi Provincial Hospital, Biratnagar and the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan for testing. Some samples are still being tested.

Among the 11 new confirmed COVID-19 patients, 8 are undergoing treatment at the Corona Special Hospital in Biratnagar.

With the sudden surge in coronavirus cases in Udayapur, the Province-1 Government has decided to seal the district. So far, the district has reported 24 coronavirus cases.

So far, the Nepali Government has tested 36,719 people. Among them, 8,763 people have been tested through PCR technology and 27,956 through RTD technology.
