Impact of COVID-19 on Rama Navami

Ram Navami in Nepal is celebrated with great fervor across the country annually. However, the 2020 Ram Navami celebrations are slightly different from the way it’s celebrated so far.

The Nepali Government has imposed many stringent policies including nationwide lockdown, suspended mass gatherings and banned celebrations to stem the spread of coronavirus.

These restrictions have thrown a spanner in this year’s Ram Navami celebrations.

The government has appealed to Nepalis to celebrate the festival at their respective homes and avoid any religious gatherings.

So far, Nepal has reported only five coronavirus cases. But the government is on high alert as the country lacks basic healthcare facilities to combat coronavirus in case of outbreak.
