In the last 24 hours, Nepal has reported 7,914 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the cumulative number of cases in the country to 513,241, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
Among the newly reported cases, 7,598 cases were confirmed from 18,965 PCR tests and 316 from 931 antigen tests conducted on Sunday.
According to the MoHP, Kathmandu Valley reported the highest 2,821 cases on Sunday among all the regions. Of the recorded cases, the Kathmandu district reported 1,761 new cases, while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts reported 694 and 366 cases, respectively.
The Ministry stated that there are currently 115,547 active cases in the country while 391,348 people have recovered successfully to date. The total recovery cases in Nepal reached 319,348 after 7,664 infected people recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, a total of 193 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus infection on Sunday across the country. With this, the COVID-19 death toll in the Himalayan nation reached 6,346.
Among all the states, Bagmati Province witnessed the highest surge in daily cases at 3,416, followed by Lumbini Province with 1,300 cases. They are trailed by Province 1 with 770 news cases, Gandaki with 913 cases, Karnali with 356, and Sudurpaschim with 269.
According to the Ministry, 45 districts each have more than 500 active cases of infection, and the other 17 districts have over 200 active cases each.
