Nepal-Georgia Ink MoU on Trade Expansion, Diplomat Visa Fee Waiver

Nepal inks another important bilateral cooperation deal, this time with Georgia. The Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a MoU on trade expansion and investment promotion.

Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Rajesh Kazi Shrestha and Georgian Chamber of Commerce President and Industry signed the bilateral agreement on July 22, 2019 in the presence of Georgian Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili.

The agreement covers expansion of bilateral trade between Nepal and India, based on existing laws and rules and to seek new investment opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Nepal Chamber of Commerce Chairman Shrestha stressed on investment in agriculture, health, hydropower and sports for the developing tourism and trade.

He urged Georgian industrialists to invest in Nepal stating that are the necessary laws are in place.

Meanwhile, the two countries also reached an agreement to waive visa fees for both countries government and diplomatic persons.

The decision was made during the Nepal-India secretary-level meeting held at the Foreign Ministry. Nepal Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi and Georgia Secretary Archil Juliasibl signed the agreement in the presence of Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

On the occasion, Georgia Foreign Secretary paid a courtesy call on Minister Gyawali. The two sides also discussed various aspects of Nepal-Georgia bilateral relations, mutual interest and welfare.

In the past Nepal has signed MoUs with various countries including Japan, Qatar, Malaysia, USA, India, UAE and more
